Sugar Sugar Pet Sitting is the manifestation of Aly Windsor’s enduring wish to love animals for a living! In the first years of Aly’s life, her family adopted an orphaned alley kitten with six toes on his two front paws, and a little black puppy with little white socks from a neighbor’s accidental litter.

Johnny the cat and Sugar the dog were little Aly’s first two best friends. As she grew up beside them, she would, at one time or another, convince her mother to let her bring home gerbils, hamsters, mice, newts, rats, parakeets, and fish, as well as myriad found turtles and frogs, injured baby birds, bats, rabbits and more.

While Johnny lived a long, luxurious life, Sugar crossed the Rainbow Bridge when Aly was 8. The loss of Sugar devastated Aly, but the realization that she could love another dog, as well as all kinds of other animals--all of whom she would always eventually lose--was a revelation and an inspiration to her young heart.

When her family adopted another dog from a local shelter, Aly learned about the plight of homeless and abused pets. By age 12, Aly was volunteering at that shelter every weekend.

By high school, she was caring for feral kitten litters for a local rescue group and at 17, Aly traveled to northern California to intern for two months at a sanctuary for rescued farm animals. Aly fed, cleaned up after, and generally provided care for chickens, goats, sheep, pigs, cows, turkeys, rabbits, and ducks daily—and loved every minute of it!

Today, a decade later, Aly lives with her partner and their four wily dogs and three high-maintenance cats in Atlanta. Aly has rescued and placed countless animals on her own, worked for several doggie daycares, and interned at National Wildlife Federation’s Southeast office before realizing that Sugar Sugar Pet Sitting, named of course after her first doglove, is her career dream come true.
